HomeKonnect – An Integrated Smart Home Solution
HomeKonnect is a unique smart home solution in the form of a mobile app that allows a user to control everything inside a smart home from their smartphones. A user can control home lights, temperature, blinds, and other appliance of a home, easily. Users can also automate various settings through preset scenarios and automate various functions easily. The solution also had a desktop admin app that allowed users to control the entire home and devices using a desktop admin app.
Challenges
Developing an IoT-integrated smart home solution that can empower users to control various devices was a challenge in itself. The developers have to leverage several technologies to create unique functionalities. At the same time, it was challenging to ensure compatibility with a large number of IoT devices.
The solution also had to have unique functionality that allowed users to provide access to home to its family members. This was particularly hard as the solution had to deal with multiple users at the same time, once admin access is given. A detailed statistics dashboard was also developed that allowed users to keep an eye on daily, weekly and monthly energy consumption and other statistics.
Solutions
Team X-Byte closely worked with the client, analyzing the core app requirements and suggesting several value-added features to increase the efficiency of the solution. Dark mode functionality was also added to the solution for enhancing the usability of the app during nighttime. At the same time, the solution included secure sign up and login functionality powered by end-to-end encryption and safety of smart home.
The smart home solution had an attractive, user-friendly and intuitive UI making the app highly appealing for the end-users.
